Every Morning – a movement poem

By Miriam Erasmus

Every morning when I wake up,

A thorough check I make.

To be sure every part of me

Will soon be wide awake.

I stretch my arms so very high

And twiddle my fingers ten.

I shake my shoulders up and down,

And twist my body, and then…

I bend right down to touch my toes,

And jiggle my legs about.

I bend my knees and wiggle my hips,

And shake all the sleepiness

OUT !

These movement poems were written, to encourage movement to enhance the words of a poem.
