Anderida Writers of Eastbourne are extending an open invitation to attend their Annual Short Story and Poetry competition at which actors Brian Capron, of Coronation Street fame, and Susan Thacker will read out entries at the Hydro Hotel, Eastbourne, on Tuesday, July 21st, from 7.30 pm.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners, plus a three-course meal for two people at the Pomodoro e Mozzarella Italian Restaurant, and a bottle of bubbly donated by Anderida’s patron, best-selling author Tamara McKinley.
Anderida chairman Tony Flood, pictured signing one of his books with Brian Capron, says: “Those who have attended a previous meeting will be eligible to vote on each entry, giving scores up to 10 points. Scores will then be totalled to determine the winners and runners-up in the short story and poetry categories before prizes are presented.
“Those not eligible to vote can simply sit back and enjoy themselves. Based on last year’s competition final, members and guests can look forward to an exciting evening filled with an interesting variety of stories and poems, which will be expertly and professionally read by Brian and Susan.”

Award-winning writer Tony Flood spent most of his working life as a journalist, initially on local and regional papers and then on nationals. He was also editor of Football Monthly, Controller of Information at Sky Television and enjoyed a spell with The People before retiring in 2010.
