With losing weight being a topic that hits the headlines every day, this is a story that would easily transfer to stage and screen . Its main characters would be even more hilarious in lifelike form.
It is a book which you might not rush to read but once you get into it I found it difficult to put down to find out how Candy, a 16 stone plus woman, manages to shed pounds, under the supervision of George, and win him a bet at his local pub.
George lives a very different lifestyle from Candy. He doesn’t need to work(his father is a successful businessman) and he spends his time at the pub chasing pretty girls and placing bets.
Candy has just quit her job because the office staff make fun of her size. George wouldn’t look at her twice
When the two of them come together it’s a barrel of laughs all the way, with George’s mates helping move the comedy along.
What started off as a bet becomes a money earning. Business, in which they discover you can’t always judge people by their appearance.
