Book Review: Beggars Belief by Tony Flood

Beggars Belief is a fast-paced crime thriller with a myriad of twist and turns that will keep any police procedure/crime enthusiast page-turning to the last. Set in recognisable, genuine locations throughout Eastbourne and East Sussex villages, it’s an easy read that kicks off in dramatic fashion with a brutal murder on the first page of chapter one.

The story then progresses, day-by-day, through the police investigation to find a motive and the killer. Along the way, many secrets are revealed about the various players. It turns out that it’s not only the murderer disguised as a beggar who was not what he appeared to be. In this story, nothing is quite what it seems.

Through this process of discovery, author, Tony Flood, keeps the reader guessing to the end. I won’t give away any of the twists. As well as murder and intrigue, be prepared for some sexual titillation, as we’ve come to expect from this author who was also responsible for the celebrity reveals in “My Life With The Stars – Sizzling Secrets Spilled!” in which Tony makes full use of the vantage point provided by his previous life as a showbiz writer and Controller of Information at Sky TV.

This is an exciting addition to Tony’s growing collection of novels which range from stories for children to offerings both factual and fictional. If you enjoy this, take a trip back to his previous crime novel, ‘Fall Guy – Who Really Killed His Wife‘. In fact, Tony very generously offers purchasers of Beggars Belief a free book, which makes Beggars Belief even better value.

Beggars Belief is published by Michael Terence Publishing and is available now on Amazon.
