Book Write-Up for Poetic Wisdom

By Laurie Wilkinson

Laurie’s fourteenth book – ISBN 9798300482954 – dives deep into the wisdom of poetry evoking deep thoughts and emotions from his keen observations of the world across four sections of living experience: romance, humour, reflection & tragedy.

He brings insights into such broad topics from the affairs of the heart in his Romance Sequence, hearsay and memories, and from the tragedies of life to the humour of Drunken Bingo Callers!

Proudly produced by Bad Goose Publishing, The Psychy Poet, (Laurie’s alias due to his expansive career working in psychiatry), is now ever more widely appreciated with poems read by local, national, and even international audiences.

Laurie has featured on BBC, Magic FM, & local radio stations, as well as in the Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, and various publications and magazines like “Etc” Mag, The Sussex Newspaper & Hailsham, Bexhill and Eastbourne News for whom Laurie writes monthly articles with poems.

Of course all of Laurie’s book sales donate to the charity Help for Heroes, so great poetry for a worthy cause.

Laurie also expands that he is very proud of this book, as he is with all his previous published works, but possibly more so with this one because of many recent great compliments on his poetry. Many people have very kindly said they think his work has “gone up a notch”.

To further whet your appetite for this book there are subjects such as telling jokes, new modern trends and habits to different behaviours that cover life for all of us.

Of course Ted and Beth, Laurie’s two created mischievous teddy bears, make their regular now appearance, and have a new friend to introduce too. Thus all in all this is a must buy book you will thoroughly enjoy whilst knowing it will donate to an excellent charity!

Lead Poem

Poetic Wisdom

It’s easy to be wise with hindsight
And of that there’s no real doubt,
I make my poetic observations
Mostly when I’m out and about.

But I also read of events and listen,
How people say things are for them,
On each aspect of day to day life
And feelings that they can’t stem.

Please read and enjoy my poems
That have been appreciated before,
Giving my down to earth accounts
And may now resonate much more.

Start of three poems as tasters =

When Seagulls are Sleeping

When the seagulls are all sleeping
Then the lovers come out to play,
For there will be no screeching cries
To disturb romance now holding sway.
So in a very silent world of intimacy
They will be holding each other tight,
Without any need to let emotions rest
So cuddle closely through the night.

Because although lovers can retreat
Into their own personal secret cell,
Any atmosphere of a quiet serenity
Will serve private activities well.

Anybody Home?

Now I really like a funny joke
And so tell them as I go about,
But sometimes funnier than puns
Is if people just look blankly out,
As if the light is shining bright
But there is clearly no-one at home.
For the joke is totally lost on them
As any awareness began to roam.

Making Our Way

As we wend our way along life’s highway
That we must do after waking each day,
We may consider all we’ve done or learnt
Before in our memories it’s lost or burnt.
As any future moves of aspiration hopes
Never succeed for anyone who mopes
Across every day, month or even years,
For peace cannot go alongside fears.

So recognise fortune you have at this time
As many must face life with barely a mime,
Even if they look back to reflect and think
That days pass us by with scarce a blink.
