By Laurie Wilkinson
Near three thousand went to work
Though none would make it back,
As they would all be the victims
Of a sick cowardly attack.
Without any warning from the skies
And two huge towers did remove.
Though left a bigger stain of shame,
Of which no god could approve.
Many a madman in history charged
With a massive sword a wielding,
But it takes a special psychotic mind
To steer planes into a building!
A tremor was felt across humanity
We knew that evil had been done,
But their bitter, sickly souls were less,
Than their smoke that hid the sun.
Near three thousand went to work
Though none would make it back,
They would all be the victims
Of a sick, cowardly attack.
With towers burning there is no escape
Trapped up high from crowds around,
The only choice was manner of death
To burn, choke, or hit the ground.
There was time though, with technology
For tragic folk to phone their kin,
And heartrending love and goodbyes
Only compound their killer’s sin.
They said the world couldn’t be the same
After this cruel act of desecration,
But the spirit of good and righteousness
Is built on a very strong foundation.
Near three thousand went to work
Though none would make it back,
They would all be the victims
Of a sick, cowardly attack.
So time has passed into history now
That blackest day of days.
The world moves on now as it must,
But contempt and disgust still stays,
For those whose simplistic minds
Were twisted to an act of hate,
Upon unsuspecting innocents
Who walked like heroes to their fate!
